The hour that changes the week.

The Examined Hours is a therapy practice led by Orah Bass, a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Dallas, Texas.
We welcome people who have spent years thinking carefully about their lives, who can name their patterns and trace their histories, and yet something still remains stuck or unclear. This practice exists for people ready to look at their lives honestly, with curiosity rather than just analysis, and with someone who will explore the depth of what they bring.
Time with Orah feels like a real conversation. Grounded. Direct. Occasionally funny. She asks the questions you have been avoiding, and she knows when to ask them.
Orah draws from multiple clinical traditions, including cognitive and behavioral approaches and depth-oriented work, using them not as fixed methods, but as ways of understanding what is happening in the moment and what continues beneath it.
Anxiety & Overthinking
For people whose minds work hard and whose lives still feel stuck. The analysis is thorough, the self-knowledge real. What remains is finding out what all that thinking has been organized around avoiding.
Identity & Meaning
Careers, marriages, beliefs, and self-concepts can hold for a long time before they begin to feel wrong. This work is for people who have started noticing that the frame they've been living inside no longer fits.
Grief & Loss
Including losses that don't have obvious names. The faith that dissolved. The future that quietly closed. The version of yourself you can no longer find.

Orah Bass, MA, LPC, NCC
Orah Bass is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas, with over a decade of clinical experience across private practice and community mental health.
She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where her training was grounded in applied clinical work from the beginning. Her early years were spent in high-volume, high-acuity settings, working with individuals, families, and groups across a wide range of psychological and social conditions.
That background includes grief work, crisis response, group facilitation, and long-term individual therapy. She now works in private practice, helping people who have already done a great deal of thinking about their lives, and have reached the point where thinking alone no longer moves anything.
Alongside her clinical work, Orah teaches other professionals. She develops and leads continuing education for clinicians on topics that tend to resist simplification, including ethical ambiguity, psychopharmacology, and the ways people construct meaning under pressure.
Her approach draws from multiple traditions, including cognitive and behavioral therapies as well as depth-oriented work.
